Getting Started
How do I install PC Builder MW?
Go to the Shopify App Store, search for "PC Builder MW" and click "Add app." Approve the permissions and the app will appear in your Shopify sidebar under Apps.
Do I need any technical knowledge to set up the app?
No. PC Builder MW is 100% no-code. Setup is done through visual interfaces inside your Shopify admin. Average setup time is 15–30 minutes.
How long does it take to go live?
Most stores go live in under 30 minutes for a basic setup. More complex catalogs with many compatibility rules may take longer — but our CSV import makes bulk setup much faster.
Can I test the app before going live?
Yes. Your widget is in draft mode until you embed it on your store. You can preview the full customer experience from the admin before making it live.
Billing & Plans
How does billing work?
All charges go through Shopify Billing and appear on your Shopify invoice. You are charged monthly. There are no separate payment processors or invoices to manage.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Cancel directly from the Shopify App Store or your Shopify admin under Apps > PC Builder MW > Plan. Your account remains active until the end of the billing period.
What's the difference between Basic and Pro?
Both plans include unlimited orders and all core features. The Pro plan adds built-in AI access — so you can use the AI fill feature without your own API key. Pro also includes priority support.
Is there a free trial?
Yes — new installs get a 14-day free trial with up to 2 orders. After the trial, choose Basic ($9.99/mo) or Pro ($19.99/mo) to continue with unlimited orders.
What payment methods are accepted?
Payment is handled entirely by Shopify. Any payment method on your Shopify account works — credit card, PayPal, and other Shopify-supported methods.
Features & Configuration
Can I create multiple PC builder widgets?
Yes. Create as many widgets as you need — one for gaming builds, one for workstations, one for budget builds. Each widget is independent with its own steps and compatibility rules.
How do compatibility rules work?
You define rules that control which products can be selected together. For example, "only show AM5 motherboards when an AM5 CPU is selected." Rules apply in real-time as customers build.
Can I import products and rules via CSV?
Yes. Both product assignments and compatibility rules support CSV import. Download the template from the admin, fill it in, and upload.
Does the builder work with product variants?
Yes. You can assign specific variants from your Shopify products to each step. Variant-level compatibility rules are also supported.
What happens when a product goes out of stock?
Out-of-stock products are automatically hidden from the configurator. They reappear automatically when stock is restored.
Can customers save and share their builds?
Yes. Each build gets a unique shareable URL. Customers can save their build and come back to it later, or share it with friends for feedback.
AI Features
What does the AI fill feature do?
AI fill automatically suggests and populates component categories, compatibility data, and product descriptions based on your product catalog. It can save hours of manual data entry.
Do I need my own AI API key?
On the Basic plan, you need to bring your own API key (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.). On the Pro plan, built-in AI is included — no API key needed.
Which AI providers are supported?
The app supports OpenAI (GPT-4) and Anthropic (Claude) API keys on the Basic plan. The Pro plan uses built-in AI without requiring a key.
Theme & Embedding
Will it work with my Shopify theme?
Yes. PC Builder MW works as a Shopify section block, which is compatible with all modern Shopify themes including Dawn, Debut, Prestige, and custom themes.
Will it slow down my store?
No. The widget is lazy-loaded — it only loads when it is visible in the viewport. There is zero performance impact on pages where the widget is not embedded.
Can I customize the widget appearance?
Yes. Colors, fonts, button styles, and layout options are all configurable from the admin. For advanced customization, additional CSS can be added through your theme.
